Lip sync

November 2, 2015

Where does contentment lie,
When lips crave,
Or say goodbye?
Where the pillowy comfort,
Of the simple kiss,
Asking nothing,
But a wisp of your breath?

A mere puck of a sound,
Conveying more than any weighty tome,
Or the empty wind of words,
Spoken between the loneliness,
Felt only in a bed for two

Scrapped

Watching it go,
Last week’s treasure,
Now mere clutter,

And so did she go,

I hoped,

But not even a whimper.

Archery

May 10, 2015

No Cupid,

My arrows are not for hearts,

It’s wild nature I seek,

Where the spirits lie,

Hidden in glades,

Surrounded by madness,

Besieged by clawing hands,

And glazed eyes,

They’re more animal than I,

With my muddy feet,

And soot stained cheeks,

I pass unseen,

In their starched world,

Where people behave like animals,

And nature is their godless feast,

I wear duality like a cloak,

A guise in which I hunt lost beasts,

While it’s wild hearts I seek.

The heart of creation lies in darkness

May 5, 2015

Open hearted
in a sensual world,
Where cuts and bruises
cause no pain,
Rather a sacred recognition:
In grief there is liberation,
A torrent of colour,

As a creature of feeling,
Not thought,
Is it madness
to sit in darkness
with a smile on my face?

Have you contemplated the notion:
It’s not light that connects us,
That when your pulse races,
And your chest feels both tight and swollen,
It could be love,
Or fear,
Only if you care to name it,

In the absence of both,
What would your racing heart tell you?
Pay attention,

Can you face destruction?
Because somewhere we mistook
immortality for permanence,

The stars know this,

Do they burn merely to bring light,
In a world of mirrors and reflection,
Or because there is no creation
without destruction?

And if there’s truth in this,
how can you be different from a star,
a raging fire,
If they’re the source of all you are?

Reasonable Desire

December 3, 2014

What do I fear most?
Suffocation
That in desire I would bind her
Or be bound
For it’s the boundless I love
So beautifully present
Her wildness of nature
Where I see true order
Not mess
Not madness
But fiery chaos
That reflects my own
It falls where it should
Dead straight arrows
In a howling gale
No neat masquerades
Or polite formalities
She screams beauty
That no honest heart would dare ignore
It calls out my vulnerability
An outrage to sensibility
And a homage to desire
She shakes my ageless foundations
Exposing my duality
That I would both possess
Like some caveman with a stick
Chasing a lightning strike
And still be free
Thus entrapping myself
And blaming her as gaoler
So here I dance amidst words
Dragged out like bent nails
My first clumsy steps
On fresh tide-swept sand
But I do dance
Finding freedom in desire
A flame to match my fire

Patamorphosis

November 21, 2014

True change drifts in a realm of illusion
Boundless possibilities
With a single purpose
The Mystery unnamed

Fight it if you must
But know you are but dust
Beautiful in the eyes of the poet
Empty in the eye of all that is

The emptiness you feel is the whole
Your panic is your awareness
Of that which can not be filled
But which is always full

If you would grasp it
Let it go
Drift in the possibility
That your breath is not your own

Your chest a cavity
As dark as it is light
As full as it is empty

That this pain is infinite
And yet it is hollow
As is the love you seek

What binds you is belief

Would you define the indescribable?
Have you the words?
Would you be beautiful?
Or a part of all that simply is?

Boundless and full
It will not distinguish

There is no symbol
No word
No sound that can describe

And yet you are alive
A pin prick of light
In a fabric of emptiness
And infinitely beautiful in my eyes

She has a name

September 25, 2014

I am joined
My beginning and ending
surrendered

Cocooned, I am
Set free by the flesh
I offer her insatiable hunger

Wild beauty and rage
Unpredictable
except in her appetite

I am ash
She exalts
Crowning my destruction

A barometric leaping
Dust plume
Crowned in streams of red

Of this time yet timeless
Without form
Elemental union

Unseen
Not heard
As two individual drops in a stream

It is a scentless
wind swept conjunction
of essences on the breeze

Two grains of dust
dancing between stars
in shapeless dreams

It is my destroyer
My authentic path
My eternal Mother

Fire.

What a f*#king mess

July 23, 2014

Pride’s cup has overflowed
With one day to grieve
Cast adrift
On a leaky boat
Punched in the guts
With a hole I didn’t perceive

Funny (peculiar)
How every bruise you yield
Aches like the first slap
The first heartbreak
The first time someone dies
Your first bike stolen

So you take flight
Avoiding all eyes
But what’s to deny?
From what do we hide?
Love?
Fear?

Hell knows I’ve tried
Fleeing
Tear streaked
Shy
A lonely long road
That twists and winds

And yet
In mere minutes
It led me to realise
But two things
You can not deny
Each other’s antithesis

They lurk side by side
Like sisters dancing
Or more likely rediculous
Hot pies and cold beer?

Love.
And fear.

Grief

January 2, 2014

Love’s longing is the true foe
Obfuscated by anger’s falsity
Shrouding all beneath
To hide the pain

Lost to a shadowed fury
Outlined by tears like shards
Vacuous in their gasping shower
Empty salt stings on an open wound

Wild Heart

December 30, 2013

Have you ever noticed the grass
Left grown
Like a bush of wild hermit hair
A soft blanket in the moonlight
Quivering as one in the breeze
Shivering like a lover’s skin
Scattered with goosebump flowers
Above, a cloud of sparks
That shine with a cool beauty
Singing silent possibilities
Stars in a lover’s eyes
Shining from some inner light
When lips curve upwards
Like the wings of ancient wisdom
An owl in flight
Hunting for a tender heart
Have you ever seen the grass?
